In the early 1970's, Richard Nixon was facing impeachment and removal for Watergate. At some point, 6 or so Republican Senators went up to the White House to tell Nixon "we can't cover you on this" - in other words, he'd be impeached (by the House) and removed (by the Senate). He resigned rather than face that. Fast-forward several decades, and the Republicans thought they had their chance to do the same to Clinton, the facts were indisputable, he had lied at court, under oath (he raped a woman when he was Arkansas AG and Governor). In fact, several years later, the Supreme Court revoked his ability to argue before the court (although it's more of an honorific). This time, the Democratic Senators went to the White House and said "we've got your back" and sure enough, he was impeached (by the House) but not removed (by the Senate). Fast forward still several decades more, and the Democratic-controlled House impeaches Trump, not once but twice, however this time the Republicans learned their lesson: they had Trump's back no matter what and he was not removed by the Senate. Fast forward to today and we have the unprecedented raid on Trump's Mar-A-Lago residence over a case of whether he had classified documents or not. This is not a violent felony requiring FBI agents with machine guns, it was all a show. This is not going to get better anytime soon.
I fully expect the Republicans will take the House back and maybe even the Senate (though I don't believe it would be enough to remove Biden). But they will still go through all the pomp-and-circumstance of walking the Articles of Impeachment solemnly across the Rotunda from the House to the Senate: fully aware that they don't have the votes for removal. It reminds me of the old saying: "What's good for the goose is good for the gander". It just means you can no longer cry unfair victimhood when you just did the same thing. But do you think anyone is going to learn the lesson? I doubt it.

Dear All,
I had a stroke on 11/5 and spent a week in the hospital. I am doing well, but will need surgery in the coming weeks; please continue to pray for me.
Thanks,
-John.
We're going to a local zoo tomorrow - haven't been there in a LONG time. I'm looking forward to it, I find it peaceful. If you have a nearby zoo, consider visiting it soon if you haven't been there in a while. :-)

The epic tale of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" has a moral to the story: at the end, after crying "wolf!" falsely and laughing at the woodsmen who comes to "save him", the wolf really does appear and now the woodsmen don't respond to his cries for help. We are seeing that in today's society: these hyperventilating, mouth-frothing, extremists have been screaming that it's "the end of democracy" or "everyone's a racist, bigot, -phobe, (insert whatever here)", or "the climate is going to implode in 12 years" are in for a rude awakening. The wolf is November 8th.
