The environmentalist says: "OMG! The temperature [in TIMEFRAME A] just went up 20 degrees (F)!" Says I: "Relax, the temperature in SWFL always swings from 60 to 80 from 2AM to 2PM, it'll swing back in 12 hours. We understand this cycle well."
The environmentalist yells: "OMG!! The temperature [in TIMEFRAME B] just went up 100 degrees (F)!" Says I: "Relax, the temperature in Chicago always swings from -10 to 90 from January to July, it'll swing back in 6 months. We understand this cycle well."
The environmentalist screams: "OMG!!! The temperature [in TIMEFRAME C] just went up 34 degrees (F)!" Says I: "Relax, the temperature change during the past 120 years is nowhere near the variance of temperature change due to sunspot cycles, perturbations in the rotation and orbit of the Earth, and the fact that we are going from a glacial era to an interglacial era in the current ice age. Though we don't understand these cycles well, we know that some of them are less than 120 years and some are vastly over 120 years and your models fail to predict temperature change (using historical data) because of these timeframes. There were times when Florida was covered in mile-deep glaciers and other times when there was no ice at the North Pole and the Arctic Ocean was navigable."
"But... what about the polar bears?" cries the environmentalist.

We're going to a local zoo tomorrow - haven't been there in a LONG time. I'm looking forward to it, I find it peaceful. If you have a nearby zoo, consider visiting it soon if you haven't been there in a while. :-)

The epic tale of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" has a moral to the story: at the end, after crying "wolf!" falsely and laughing at the woodsmen who comes to "save him", the wolf really does appear and now the woodsmen don't respond to his cries for help. We are seeing that in today's society: these hyperventilating, mouth-frothing, extremists have been screaming that it's "the end of democracy" or "everyone's a racist, bigot, -phobe, (insert whatever here)", or "the climate is going to implode in 12 years" are in for a rude awakening. The wolf is November 8th.
