The process of creating butter from whole milk is called: to churn, or churning. The rapid motion of a plunger basically turns fat-in-water to water-in-fat. This word has then been colloquially used to describe something that is chaotic, rapid, and also repetitive. For example, employee churn in a company means a rapid loss and replacement of people over time. Capital churn can mean spending a lot of cash while replacing it with additional investment funding.
We can experience churning in our lives when lots of things start happening rapidly that seem wildly out of proportion with our prior experiences. The current chaotic markets (inflation, interest rates, gas prices, the Great Resignation), can exacerbate and amplify our feelings of churn.

The epic tale of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" has a moral to the story: at the end, after crying "wolf!" falsely and laughing at the woodsmen who comes to "save him", the wolf really does appear and now the woodsmen don't respond to his cries for help. We are seeing that in today's society: these hyperventilating, mouth-frothing, extremists have been screaming that it's "the end of democracy" or "everyone's a racist, bigot, -phobe, (insert whatever here)", or "the climate is going to implode in 12 years" are in for a rude awakening. The wolf is November 8th.
